I loved the energy in the room and the ed tech resources provided during our first class!
The process of creating my WordPress account was relatively straightforward thanks to the detailed instruction guide. One key was remembering to check the junk folder of my UVic email account. I explored the platform for an hour or so and was able to change my password from the pre-set one. The series of steps involving permissions and privacy was a bit confusing and overwhelming to start, but I turned to my peers for reassurance and guidance as needed. I appreciated the WordPress tutorials and the other links provided too!
Overall, this platform seems relatively user-friendly and it could be a resource I use in my career as a teacher. Becoming fluent in various educational technologies will be super beneficial in both my professional and personal lives. As such, I appreciate the opportunity to be exposed to numerous platforms, such as WordPress, Mattermost, and Brightspace.
My goals for this week are to personalize my website and learn more about the different settings and tools. For example, I would like to upload a different home page image that is meaningful to me. I think I will end up exploring some more tutorials and conversing with classmates about what they have learned about WordPress so far.
I am excited to continue expanding my ed tech knowledge!
