This week has been a great experience as I expanded my Punjabi vocabulary with Jerin’s help. My accent is improving, although there is always room for improvement! I have not memorized the sentences I am learning, but with phonetic spelling as a prompt, I can confidently pronounce them. I find this process challenging and enjoyable, and I am excited to learn more over the weekend with help from Jerin’s grandma.
Last week, I focused on basic greetings and sentences beginning with “I want”. This week, I will explore different types of phrases with new vocabulary. Additionally, I will delve into more background research on the Punjab region of India and its cultural significance. I have been using the voice notes app, Trello, and Google Docs as part of my process.
On Friday, I will visit the Sikh temple as part of Jerin’s birthday celebrations. While there, we listen to the Gyani who leads prayers in Punjabi – maybe a few words will sound familiar! I attached some voice notes below to document my practice. I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend!
